About the Witch(es)

Who is martha carrier?

witch just might be in my dna.

In May of 1692, my ancestor Martha Carrier was accused of witchcraft by a group of young women known as the Salem Girls.

The Girls accused her of leading a 300 strong witch army, using her occult powers to murder and afflict people with terrible diseases and of being promised the position of “Queen of Hell.”

Martha denied the accusations and was imprisoned with her young children–in hopes that their confinement would force her to confess. Eventually Martha’s children testified against her, though likely because they were being tortured until they agreed to so.

While others accused quickly confessed to

save their lives, Martha maintained her innocence the entire time. She was sentenced to death and hung in Gallows Hill on Aug. 19, 1692.

In 1711, the courts reversed the conviction. Salem documents themselves reveal that her crime was not witchcraft but an independence of mind and an unsubmissive character.

About Lexie

Lexie Bond is a blogger (and maybe a witch) based out of Northern Virginia. She lives with her son of a witch, Rogan (5) and French Bulldog (7), Chloe. She is originally from Pittsburgh and misses it solely because they put French fries on the salads there.

Her hobbies include watching reality TV, building Legos, and gaining and losing the same 15 pounds over and over again. If she ever finishes it, you should look for her book, I’m Not Fat; I’m American, in the half-off bin at your nearest bookstore.

Her lifestyle is afforded by her day job as a solutions architect at Cisco (not to be confused with Sisqo the genius behind “The Thong Song” but that would be way cooler), where she threatens to rage quit on an almost daily basis.

ABout Bad Witch Blog

Bad Witch Blog is a blog by me, Lexie Bond. Once upon my twenties, I used to write a blog called Lex and the City. Now that I’m officially in my villain era, we needed a little bit of a rebrand. And that’s how Bad Witch Blog was born.

While I do dabble a bit with witchcraft, manifesting, and other “woo woo girl” activities, the contents of the blog will not purely be witchy by nature–just stories from my magical life that I hope make you laugh.
